The Hudson Valley has become quite the popular destination for travelers. From scenic views to hiking trails, historic towns and wineries, there is a little something for everyone! We've recently featured our Top Hudson Valley Hikes for our adventure seekers; now we've to put together a sample itinerary for our fellow wine lovers seeking a wine tour weekend in the Hudson Valley.

Our Bed & Breakfast in New Paltz, NY is located at the base of the Shawangunk mountains, just 80 miles outside of NYC. This places us right in the middle of the the Shawangunk Wine Trail, which consists of 13 unique wineries between the mountains and the Hudson River.

The Perfect Hudson Valley Winery Weekend:

Friday:

-If you are traveling north to our B&B, we recommend stopping at Brotherhood Winery. Known as 'America's Oldest Winery', Brotherhood is an amazing first stop on your Hudson Valley Wine Trip. Pick up a chilled bottle of wine to enjoy at happy hour. Watergrasshill Wine Pick: Dry Rosé

-Check in at our B&B at 4:00 and get yourself settled for an incredible weekend. Grab that chilled bottle of wine from Brotherhood and walk down to our beautiful sunset porch attached to one of our barns.

-After a glass of wine and soaking in the mountain views, head over to Magnanini Winery for their pasta night. Homemade pasta, local wine and live music. What more could you ask for on a Friday night? Watergrasshill Pick: Seyval Blanc & Gnocchi with Tomato Basil Cream Sauce

Saturday:

-Start your morning off right with a farm fresh breakfast served in our dining room. Sample breakfast menu: Homemade blueberry muffins, fresh fruit cup, summer garden omelet with everything seasoned bacon. Who's hungry?

-Get picked up at the B&B by your transportation of choice for a short 20 minute drive to Benmarl winery. (If you do not have a designated driver planned for your trip there are many transportation companies that offer wine tour packages that can pick you up and drop you off at our Bed & Breakfast. There are also taxi companies as well as Uber & Lyft which can provide safe transportation to and from the wineries.) At Benmarl, choose from one of their curated wine flights for a sampling of their best wines. Enjoy it on their deck while enjoying the gorgeous views. Watergrasshill Wine Pick: Dry Rosé

-Next stop, only 10 minutes away, is Nostrano Vineyards. Grab some lunch and bottle of your choice and enjoy it on their expansive lawn. Watergrasshill Wine Pick: Semi-Sweet Riesling

-Continuing on your Hudson Valley Wine Tour is a stop close to home. Robibero Winery in New Paltz is a great family vineyard run with large selection of wines to choose from and a beautiful deck and lawn to enjoy. Watergrasshill Wine Pick: 87 North.

-Once you've returned from your day full of wine, take a nice nap and freshen up before dinner at one of the many local restaurants in New Paltz. A few of our favorites include Garvan's Gastropub, End Cut & Mountain Brahaus.

Sunday:

-Wake up and smell the bacon! Your morning begins with another delicious breakfast served at the B&B. Another sample breakfast menu: Homemade cranberry scones, organic fruit and yogurt parfait, spiced orange french toast and sausage. Yum! Before check out relax on our front porch rocking chairs listening to the song birds.

-If you've still got room in the car for more wine, there is one more winery that we recommend stopping at before heading out of town. Whitecliff Vineyard in Gardiner, is one of the largest wineries in the Hudson Valley. With over 20 varieties of grapes we believe their wine is some of the most refined that you can find locally. Watergrasshill Wine Pick: Awosting White

Cheers, wine glasses at Watergrasshill B&B

If 6 wineries in 1 weekend is not enough for you, we are happy to recommend a few more that are not far from our door. We hope this itinerary inspires your to plan your next winery trip to the Hudson Valley and visit us. We are open year round and our rates and availability can be found on our website. Cheers & happy planning!
