About The Event

Do you find yourself watching baking shows and wishing your had the skills to create your own insta-worthy cake? Join Chef Melissa Walnock, a classically trained pastry chef from the CIA Apple Pie Bakery Café, to discover the art of cake decorating and take the first steps towards creating your own stunning cakes. This class is perfect for those who have mastered cake baking and are ready to bring their desserts to the next level with beautiful presentation and finishing touches.

All cake tiers will be pre-baked before class and set up at each bakers station. Chef Walnock will demo cake assembly and walk bakers through the process of crumb coats. Then she will cover tools and buttercream piping skills including stars, rosettes and many more advanced techniques, as well as fondant basics. At the end of the class, each baker will have their own 2 tier decorated cake to take home!

Melissa Walnock is A Certified Hospitality Educator of baking and pastry arts at The Culinary Institute of America (CIA).
